French researcher and professor Luc Montagnier is credited with identifying the cause of AIDS: the human immunodeficiency virus, HIV. 

A piano player and Mozart lover, Montagnier has sacrificed his own pursuits to help mankind. With the help of UNESCO and the World Foundation for Research and Prevention of AIDS, of which he is founder and president, Montagnier and his colleagues at the Pasteur Institute continue to work tirelessly to find an AIDS vaccine.
