Mario Robles del Moral

Mario Robles del Moral set up a hugely successful reforestation programme in Spain that encouraged people of all ages to grow trees, plant them out and continue taking care of them.

On 5 June 2000 Ana Botella (second from right), wife of Spain's then president, José Maria Aznar, is joined by leaders of the Forests of the Earth Foundation to plant a tree at the presidential palace.

Saplings are an investment in the future when deforestation continues despite proof of the critical role forests play in the global ecosystem.
