Planting the future
In northern Tanzania, under the leadership of 2002 Rolex Associate Laureate Sebastian Chuwa, people are rallying together to create a sustainable future for themselves.
"Environmental efforts will only succeed in my country if environmental education is targeted at a grassroots level.”
These communities are literally sowing the seeds of a better future through a massive, informal reforestation project that will preserve the natural environment and help ensure that the communities themselves have food, shelter and income.
